New season
ReplyDeleteAs we go into a new season we can feel uncertain of the outcome. Maybe we feel uncertain about Gods calling in our lives or maybe it is just the pressure of life and bills that weighs us down, but know this. God does not give us a spirit of fear.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (II Timothy 1:7 NKJV)
So God has given us a spirit of power and sound mind and a sound mind means we think clearly.
God has a calling for each one of us and He has determined where we were born and where we live. He knew this before the beginning of time and He knows the plan for our life therefor we do not need to fear tomorrow. Gods desire is that we all live in accordance with His will for our life and doing this means each one of us moves in His plan for us. I can't allow people to tell me what I should be doing as a believer, I have to eagerly pursue the plan that God has laid out for my life as I do that I will be living in His will for me and me alone. It is in this atmosphere that the Lord will make visible His will in those around me and allow me to back up or support those people. The same applies for each of you.
Barnabas was able to recognize Gods plan for Paul and he supported Paul. He also recognized Gods plan for John Mark, Barnabas then left Paul to travel with the younger believer.
If we are to be a base church then it will mean recognizing Gods calling in each other and then release those people into the city, state and or to the ends of the world as long as it is Gods calling it will be blessed.
Let's move on to 2 Timothy 1:9
(... the gospel according to the power of God,)9. who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, (II Timothy 1:9 NKJV)
Let's read it slowly in sections.
who has saved us and called us with a holy calling. Who saved us and called us? God. With what in mind? With a holy calling. How is it holy? Because God is holy so this is his calling ... For who? Us!
not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace
We have a calling not based on our good deeds or how committed we are to church because this calling was before time began. Our calling is given to us by Grace. For who's purpose? For His own purpose. If it is for Gods purpose then it is holy and it is blessed. We can't expect God to support our own plans and bless it, but rather God backs His plans for our life because it is for His purpose. There is a reason that God has placed each of us together at this time. He did not put David or Timothy here he put you and me.
which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.
How was our calling given to us? It was given in accordance to Grace which was given to US in Christ Jesus. So why is grace important? Grace takes the focus off us and our works and it turns our focus to Jesus.
When was our calling given to us? It was given before time began.
This sound to good to be true, but how are we able to do this? How do we know Gods plan for our lives?
Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. (II Timothy 1:6 NKJV)
What is this gift of God!!!? Let's stir it up!
Found this article on Facebook from Hillsong. Check it out! Many of us know the things mentioned, but even I need a reminder every once in a while. Just a reminder that each of us have a voice and each of us are leaders in ushering In and bringing people into a deeper sense of the Father's prescience. Whether we have a mic, are behind an instrument, soundboard or amongst the people - each and everyone of us have something to bring!

Be still
ReplyDeleteWhile we were playing on Sunday I had this come to my heart.
Be still and know that I am God.
It is a verse from Psalm 46 which is a Psalm written, I believe, during king Hezekiah's time. The two verses that stood out on Sunday were the first and last.
Psalm 46:2 “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.”
“Therefore we will not fear,"
Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Be still is a command as God has commanded in the past "do not fear" so he commands us to be still. As we draw still it is then that God exalts Himself to the nations. But as I was reading this on Sunday the two words that stood out were the words Refuge and Know.
Refuge means to take shelter from trouble, but the dictionary meaning adds that it is "a condition of being safe or sheltered from danger". Therefore the condition or the state of our mind is to know that He is our shelter in troubled times. Let's then condition ourselves in His refuge and have no fear.
To know that He is God... Sometimes we need to be still in order to KNOW Him to put distractions aside and random thoughts aside and give Him our full attention.
Lord I pray that you will command us to be still when you need us to be still, but to shout when you need us to shout.
Psalm 34:4
“I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.”
